Who's the slumped over limbless torso by the door? |

I really really wish I could like this or any other "new" Converge since When Forever Comes Crashing and Petitioning... are two of my favorite all time albums. That band, during the "two guitarist" years was pretty amazing and the writing was exceptional. I just can't get into anything after Jane Doe, and sometimes not even 'Doe.
I think I have to just give up hope that that "sound" will come back, and admit they've "evolved".
That's what I had to do with Tool. |

NO HEROES is just so well done, and the rhythm section of that band is pretty much perfect now...I think they really started to experiment with their rhythmic talents on Jane Doe, and it has evolved into something so awesome and powerful since then. |

You Fail Me is the best out of the last 3.

I just feel they took the "raw" element out and sub'd in tightness and Bridge9 style hardcore parts.
Comparing WFCC to the new stuff, you can hear the old stuff benefited from the looseness and naive approach to recording. It was like 5 guys breaking their instruments, whereas the new stuff is like a metallic hardcore band.
It's like early BSI versus the newest Trap Them! stuff. Total switch to modern hardcore. |

we've talked about this before, and I wholeheartedly disagree....I honestly don't hear the "B9 Hardcore style" in either Converge or Trap Them....both bands are obviously rooted in Hardcore, but I just don't hear anything in either band comparable to something like Have Heart or Energy |

i aggree with the taste's original comment, except i stopped liking with P.Diaries. |
|
Poacher Diaries is so good. Listened to it last week. Never really heard any other Converge, nor do I really want to. But I will check the vid when I'm not on my phone. |
|
too bad kurt's guitar tone isn't there |
|
This shit is gonna be awesome. All the newer Converge records are sick. Love this band. |

gollum? |

Nick and I seldom agree on musical ideas. But I do agree with how this style of Converge is completely different than what they were doing on an album like Petitioning. I don't think that someone who is exposed to newer Converge would necessarily like the old stuff, or vice versa. I like the new stuff, and I like the old stuff. But I can see his point. |
|
Petitioning is my personal favorite Converge record, but I strongly disagree that they sound anything like a typical Bridge 9 band |
|
I dunno what the sound LIKE now I just miss the second guitar... less melody now. Its just spastic and feels like it lacks heart and meaning. Its dark and spastic but empty. |
|
yea also poachers diaries rules. I dunno why based on what I said but its sick |
|
just checked I guess aaron was on that album aswell |
