By all accounts, Oxbow creates an intense experience that will rattle you. Normally noisy, dissonant, chaotic, angry, droning and crashing, their acoustic appearance at SPACE is sure to be unique. Conifer returns from their tour for a CD release party and a set that promises to shake the windows. Cosmic Conflict and Black Iron Prison round out the bill. 8:30p $7 18+

black iron prison: a guy with some pedals, boxes and a virus synth. I'm not sure which virus it was... it might have been the b, but I don't know. it was very droney.

cosmic conflict: startedoff as a guy with a bass guitar, a Boss drum machine, some pedals, and a good old dr grooves. a lot of the melodies seemed pre-programmed, but it was cool. after a while, nate from confier got on drums and they played 3 indie-ish rock songs.

oxbow: I've liked this band since i was 15. this was the "lite" version of the band. only 2 members instead of 4. I really need to see them played as a full band. this preformance was good but sparce. also, the singer's performance included removing his cloths and... well.. I wouldn't goin to details. I guess they played with king diamond once too!

conifer: their cd-release party. they have a movie playing over their heads. the movie was "just a bunch ofweird shit todo weird shit".. boobs.. 100's of melting jesuses... child molestation and more. conifer was also playing as a five piece, showing off their new guitarist. it worked out well for them since they kept having gear issues and 1-3 of the guitarist would be behind the moviescreen fixing things. they also have 2 guest vocalists (and the singer of oxbow came out too). the whole set rocked, even the things that didn't run so smoothly (like mark setting up zack's mic).
ps: their newcd kills. buy it.

this doesn't surprise me, i've been in bands with Mark for 10 years or so and he still hasn't bought a mic, and he's a fucking singer!!!

yep

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Oct 17,2004 8:05pm
they should just call it "a movie where a bunch of weird things happen for no reason what so ever except to be weird. if you like movies with child whores getting molested, people being executed and birds then flying out of their chest, or jesus christ with a meltedf ace, this is the movie for you. if you've seen welcome to the dollhouse, pink flamigos, gummo or happiness and you need something that combines them all with crappy 70's low budget effects, oh,boy! is this the movie for you"

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Oct 17,2004 8:09pm
as i told you...for someone who's into underground music with weird "gimmicks" i don't get why you are negative towards the movie

i thought conifer playing went GREAT with the movie...it blended so awesomely...

and i really like the movies you listed...i know ye "Undecided" about this movie...

but maybe you should just watch it

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Oct 17,2004 8:10pm
I guess I would like to watch it, but...

"And I imagine...with great pleasure...all the horrible stirrings of the nonmanifested to bring forth the scream which creates the universe. Maybe one day I'll see you trembling, and you'll go into convulsions and grow larger and smaller until your mouth opens and the world will come from your mouth, escaping through the window like a river, and it will flood the city. And then we'll begin to live."---A. Jodorowsky, 1971
