the snow was outside piling up, but in side club marque the owner was keeping the mics warm with his million of "the bar is open"s and all that other crap that I can never understand when he talks. I'm sure jay (http://theundergroundscene.net) will have some words to say about the show... like how come I go to that place and every single time, they try to tell me photographers have to go upstairs?

bi polar tendencies: they were an opener.. and while I don't like nu-metal... they were ok. Seemed a little new and young so they will get better in time (and realize that nu-metal always gets the thumbs down from me). I just can't take that "lightning crashes" echoey guitar sound.

echelon: I finally was told how to pronounce this bands name. They vocals were super weird and hard to get into at first. Sort of like jake's (converge) vocals when he does that weird talking stuff mixed with screamo type screams. After a few songs, I got used to it though. after 1 or 2 songs, they had a second guitar player.

lucas: wow, since the fall river scene fell apart with the downfall of the PAL and all, I've not seen lucas in a long time. I would say their last song was my favorite from their set. A lot of people filtered out after lucas got off.

the hostage heart: great as usual. no guitar-antics, but a solid performance. Maque's stage is a little too small for them to go crazy. I hope they get a few more songs done and recorded. they only have 4.

and then the "tour" bands started.

bowels of judas: The reminded me of a less-spazzy quell mixed with converge. One of the guitar players jumped around a lot which was cool to try to snap shots of.

haste the day: the singer sounded a lot like zao's singer. they got to a breakdown and the singer said something like "this is a breakdown, we play these so kids can jump around and do windmills" which of course was followed by kids rolling around and cartwheeling.

mercury switch: they stole xchrisx's (thh) dance moves! Though not nearly as many people were there for their set (compared to the last drifter's show) and they had technical difficulties with a chord that stalled them going on. They busted out 4 songs.
