this was a funny show. mostly cause there were 2 guys there from my highschool. it's always interesting to see people. one of which played with dyingmuse on the shroud of bereavemtn song dyingmuse (the acustic parts). dan, bob says hello. the other one was garcon (pronounced gar-kon) who I don't think I've eve seen with out a trenchcoat or a cigarette.

martyrvore: I had no clue that paul (CNV) was in the band. last I knew, it was only chris and matt. If you have heard the demos that I've heard, then you have heard nothing. the demos are more like the "La Grande Danse Macabre" by marduk or "Grand Declaration of War". this is very miss leading now that paul is singing. they are much more black-death and have a lot more of a total fucking war sound. this is much more raw and better put together. their set was like 5 or 6 songs, but it was all in one long set, pausing only maybe once or twice to try and tune. in the back, I heard a lot of people complaining that the guitar was way out of tune. I couldn't tell from up front, but I noticed that the second stack wasn't doing enough so it sounded a bit thing when I was in the front. the sound guy did his best to nessle the vocals into the guitar mix. the beginning couple minutes were a little rough, but after that the mix was much better. Second to the guitar tune comment was the comment from people on the outfits of these seacoast black metalers. they wore home-made studded gauntlets and other bm gear.

burden of liberty: this is my first time meeting otto. I saw his band wormd1v3r or how ever you spell it back at sick-as-in-fest on the dredlock stage. I just figured that he had dred locks. this project is a lot different from the ministry sounding band. they are a lot more proggie. I can hear the influences from mr. bungle, but a lot more proggie. sort of like mr. bungle with some of the guitar work from byzantine's first CD (not the last one that sounded like ATR). some of their vocals were annoying, but whatever. it was sort of in the same style that sam black church vocals can be annoying. the guitar work was really tight and played super fast. the bass player played one of those odd fretless basses. If I knew more about music, I could comment better.. but the way they played some of the stuff reminded me of surf music.

crotalus: they probably had the best sound of the night. these guys totally prove that old school heavy metal influence is still alive and can be played in a fresh way. these guys are the megadeath/slayer to blister earth/grave heart's metallica.
I think they got one song at the end cut off their set, bumping the trooper up. the response they got from playing this iron maiden cover was probably the best response I've seen to them and to that song. everyone in the club was singing along to their cover. there were a lot of their friends there which is odd since they are from far away.

candy striper death orgy: their set was basic CSDO fair. it was funny in the audience cause everyone I talked to was like:
"when did you first see CSDO?"
"89 at chapter 2"
"no way, I think it was 92 or 93 for me"
mike was there again behind the kit for all but a couple songs in the middle. arrick jumped right in to the middle of the set to rip through a couple songs. One thing I noticed about mike's playing was that he didn't play that good at the beginning of the set. usually, he out-plays eric and cliff, but it took him a couple songs to get back into the groove (it was also not his set). I was a little mad about this cause of the set order. I love when mike does that hitting the cymbol and grabbing it with the same hand. during one of the first songs, he does this with each hand and it looks cool. after those first couple songs, he was back. Some of the audience trashed around in a circle (mostly it was chris martryvore).
